Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? Our most frequently asked questions are listed here. If your question is not answered, please contact us.

What banner sizes are available?

We offer all sizes of banners, custom finished to your specifications. Banners up to 4' x 30' can be ordered online. If you want an oversized banner, please use our custom quote page or call us.

Are volume discounts available?

Volume discounts are available upon request. Please contact us for details.

What is a proof and when will I receive it?

A proof is an image that shows how your sign will look. Proofs are used to make sure what will be printed is precisely what you need. If you design your banner online, an instant proof is shown online. If you upload your print-ready file, no proof is needed. If you are requesting a custom quote, we will send you a proof for your approval before printing.

What is the average turnaround time after I place my banner order?

We will normally ship your banner within 3 business days after the proof has been approved. Standard shipping is UPS Ground. Faster shipping options are available during checkout. You may also pick up your banners at our office.

Do you offer same day services?

Upon request we do offer same day services; a rush charge of $45.00 will apply. Your order has to be completed by 2:00 PM CDT to make the UPS overnight shipping cutoff.

What are the shipping costs?

We ship UPS. Available shipping options and prices are calculated during checkout. You may also pick up your completed order at our office.

Can I track my order?

When your order ships, you will receive an e-mail with UPS tracking numbers. You can also track the progress of your order using the order status link at the top right hand side of our site.

Is there a guarantee offered on my banner?

We offer a 90 day warranty starting the day you receive your banner. This warranty will only cover manufacturing defects. If any damage is done through improper handling, installation, or storage, we cannot be held responsible.

Do you charge sales tax?

Local sales tax is charged on all orders shipped to Kansas addresses. Out-of-state orders are not charged sales tax. Also, if you pick up your order at our office, you will be charged our local sales tax rate.

Can I place a tax exempt order?

If you would like to place a tax exempt order, please call our office.

How do I hang my banner?

All banners are sewn together in each corner, as well as every 2-4 feet. You can choose between grommets (metal reinforcements) or pole pockets.

How do I store and maintain my banner?

You should store your banner by rolling it onto the shipping core and placing it back in the original packaging. Always roll your banner with the print facing outward. Never fold your banner, as creases will be made. Please keep in cool area. You can wash the banners with soap and water. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL OR HARSH CHEMICAL CLEANERS!

How long is my banner expected to last?

Our banners are extremely durable. They are made with 14 oz scrim polymeric material and the inks are UV protected for indoor and outdoor use. If used outdoors, the manufacturer recommends it will last 3 years depending on usage. For example, a banner that is outdoors all year long facing directly south in Phoenix will fade faster than an outdoor banner in Kansas. If your banner is used indoors only, its lifetime is expected to be 10 or more years. This is only a recommendation from the manufacturer; JMI will only warranty the banner for 90 days.

What is vector art?

Vector art is a type of digital art using points, lines, and curves to represent images, instead of a collection of pixels or dots. This allows the image to be blown up proportionally without looking blurred.

What is the preferred file format?

We prefer vector-based art files. We also accept files from Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. PDF, TIFF, EPS, AI, and JPEG are the file formats that will have the best resolution when printed. If the file formats previously listed still don't match with yours, please go to the custom order form so we can better assist you with your needs. Also, if your file size is listed in kilobytes (KB), the image is probably too small to use. By sending us the image, we can give you an estimate of what it would cost to rebuild the image. Once rebuilt, you will get a free copy of the new image for any future printing needs.

Can I e-mail my own artwork or photos?

You can try to e-mail us your own artwork and photos. However, most e-mail services limit the size of attachments you can send. For this reason, we recommend you use our file upload built into our upload banner page and custom quote page.

I'm not comfortable paying with a credit card online. What are my other options?

Although we have taken many safeguards to ensure our website is safe, we understand some people are not comfortable using their credit card online. To order by phone, please call us at (913) 631-0590.

What are grommets?

Grommets are small metal reinforcements that allow you to hang your banner using rope, hooks, or bungee cords.

What are pole pockets?

Pole pockets are a way of wrapping the material around to the back of the banner to be able to place PVC pipes for marching or using steel tee posts for placing into the ground.

What is webbing?

Webbing is a 1" nylon strip that we hem together to ensure strength. Webbing ensures the banner will hang straight, and prevents the bottom corners from curling up.

Do the banners have slits for wind?

We do not cut wind slits in our banners because our banners hold up perfectly in regular to moderate winds. We recommend using bungee cords instead of rope because bungee cords relieve a lot of the strain from heavier winds. You can always cut wind slits in yourself but this will void your warranty. If high winds (20+ MPH) are a concern, please select our mesh banner material.

How accurate will my colors print?

We print using CMYK ink. JMI Signs thrives on making sure that the color is as accurate as possible. Sometimes it is impossible to match exactly therefore we can't guarantee an exact match. Roland printers are very accurate with their ICC profiles. Not all Pantone colors can be printed CMYK and match. We have never had a problem with color matching. For an additional fee, we can offer test prints.
